R. P. Anand (1933 to 2011) was one ofthepioneers of Third World Approaches to International Law(TWAIL),and is widely recognized and respected as a spokesman ofthe ThirdWorld views on the subject. He was Professor Emeritus inthe Centreof International Legal Studies (CILS), Jawaharlal NehruUniversity,New Delhi, India. Professor Anand retired from theUniversity in1998 after being there for nearly 33 years asProfessor and Head ofthe Division. During this period generationsof scholars at theCILS benefitted not only from his scholarlywritings and passionateteaching, but also from his benign parentalguidance.In a career spanning nearly five decades, Anand authoredoredited over 20 books, and published more than 100 articlesinprofessional journals all over the world. He was an electedmemberof the prestigious Instuit de Droit International,theVice-President of the Asian Society of International Law andthePresident of the Indian Society of International Law. Anand wastherecipient of a number of awards and honors, visiting scholarforseveral institutes of higher learning around the world. He wasaLecturer at the Hague Academy of International Law, UGCNationalLecturer in Law (India) and also served as legal consultantto theUN Secretary General on Law of the Sea.We are proud to present this Android App as a furthertestamentand to honour the lifetime writings and studies by one ofthegreatest international law of our times - Professor R.P. Anandwhoauthored over 23 books and over 200 articles in his lifetimeofdedication to the subject. After studying at ivy leagueslikeColumbia (LLM) and Yale (JSD) he decided to dedicate his lifetoteaching the subject especially to students in India andotherparts of the developing world. He not only taughtInternational Lawfor more than 40 years as faculty of theprestigious JawaharlalNehru University but he was acknowledged as afounding authority onthird world perspectives including TWAIL(Third World Approaches toInternational Law) all over the world.This recognition allowed himto travel to every major country in theworld many times over wherehe attended and gave seminars andspeeches as well as participatedin major conferences. Prof Anandenjoyed his travels all over theworld immensely and provided theinsights he gained from thesetravels in all his writings andteachings to his students back homein India. He was a much soughtafter teacher even and especiallyafter retirement and loved it somuch he continued it all the waytill his life's end when finallyhealth did not permit him tocontinue. Most of Prof Anand's majorworks have been permanentlyembedded in this app and can be easilydownloaded with a click andread free with any PDF reader.
